Is It Possible To Predict The Future? - The Medical Futurist
Просмотров 58721 день назад
Despite the fact that the word “future” is singular in almost every language, there are such things as ‘futures’. We often discuss the future as if it were a single predetermined path. However, in reality, there are numerous potential futures that could unfold. This concept is crucial because it opens up the possibility of actively shaping the future we desire, rather than passively accepting a...

EyeQue Insight lets anyone test their vision at home so people living in rural areas, with special needs or no access to transportation could still make sure they have the necessary sight test from time to time. Just like the traditional vision testing, it measures each eye separately and then together, revealing the visual acuity on the smartphone screen upon completion. It can also test for c...

Why Do Scientists Work For Free? - The Medical Futurist

Tell me something about your job that’s obvious to you, but it’s not obvious to others. I’ll go first. The peer-review process, a cornerstone of scientific publishing, necessitates the contribution of significant expertise and time from other scientists on a voluntary basis (for free). This ensures the quality and integrity of research before publication. However, the financial burden of public...

    Loved the content. One question though. If CRP measurements can be monitored through sweat, can electrolytes be monitored through sweat as well? Will it give same results as serum measurements?

      There have been a few proof-of-concept studies about CRP, but in theory, the answer is yes.

    My opinion is that links are exact informations that can not be generated, but the model tries it. That's the problem. ChatGPT should have a data retrieve subordinate function, module, that returns with links or data, so the model can copy the data instead of generating it using its fundamental Fourier technique.

      The large language model predicts the sequence of tokens in the response inaccurately.

    • @tomtecplastics
      @tomtecplastics 7 дней назад

      In layman's terms: these models don't actually "understand" what they say, but work like super-advanced autocomplete machines. Simply put, they have a huge body of training material and lots of data about what terms and words typically go together. When you ask about "brownie recipe" it analyses the 2,3 million brownie recipes in the training material and comes up with a statistically likely correct answer. But it has no idea, what a brownie is, only when there is a "brownie recipe', there is usually flour, eggs, cocoa powder, chocolate, etc.

    Everything LLMs do is a hallucination. The stuff that is correct is produced through the same mechanism as the "hallucinated" output. There are no "facts" in the model.
